We are looking to hire energetic, bright individuals who are passionate about improving the quality of instruction for college-bound high school students and entry-level college students. Candidates should work well with groups, yet be highly self-motivated. Specifically, we are looking for individuals who can meet our particular needs in the areas of technological infrastructure design and development, Mathematics instructional content creation, and English instructional content creation as described below.
Technological Infrastructure Designers and Developers:
We have a variety of technical needs and we are seeking individuals who possess some of the following skills and are willing to learn or are interested in a number of the other skills.
- Extensive programming skills (will consider entry-level ability if highly motivated).
- Java programming with at least two years of experience (graphical programming ability and Java servlet experience highly desirable).
- Relational database skills, particularly knowledge of mySQL.
- Linux system administration.
- PHP programming knowledge.
- Client-side Web development: JavaScript, HTML, and experience in integration and communication between applets and browser plug-ins.
- Knowledge of XML and XSL (particularly XSL Formatting Objects).
- Expert in Lingo scripting and extensive experience in multimedia development with Macromedia Director®.
Developers in Mathematics and English, Literacy, and Critical Analysis:
Description:
- Serve as resident disciplinary expert in the development of computer-mediated and written instructional materials for college-level courses in either mathematics or language, literacy, and critical analysis. We are seeking experts in each of these areas to create the instructional content in our courses. Content creators will work with the enabling- technology group to build CMI-based tools as part of the instructional content. Content creators will also work with faculty members throughout the country who are members of our Academic Advisory Boards.
Skills:
- Familiarity or willingness to learn national standards in specific disciplinary areas. Mathematics content creator: Masters in Mathematics or Statistics and experience teaching introductory college-level mathematics (e.g., calculus, statistics, pre-calculus). Must be interested in the intersection between high school and college-level mathematics instruction. Language, literacy, and critical analysis content creator: Ph.D. in English, Linguistics, or Rhetoric.
