CAHSEE Conductor is designed to help students attain the highest possible score on the Mathematics section of the California High School Exit Examination (CAHSEE). The CAHSEE Conductor’s Placement Test diagnoses a student’s strengths and weaknesses and suggests parts of the curriculum that the student should study further. The Placement Test can be retaken to assess the student’s progress.
Conductor's curriculum corresponds to the 5 Content Strands and the 98 Learning Standards represented in the Mathematics section of CAHSEE.
These Content Strands and Learning Standards are organized into 22 coherent instruction and assessment Topics.
• Number Sense
• Statistics, Data Analysis, and Probability
• Algebra and Functions
• Measurement and Geometry
• Algebra I
The student is provided access to an unlimited number of Problem Sets, each related to a particular Topic.
The multiple choice questions connected to these Problem Sets include distracters (incorrect choices) designed to identify recurrent student misconceptions, procedural missteps, and problem solving errors. Following the submission of a Problem Set, the student receives feedback in the form of Worked Examples, deliberately designed to direct student attention to the most important underlying features of the problems.
Students also have access to detailed progress reports, showing how they are doing on each Topic. Teachers and school administrators also have access to this data, but in formats more suitable to their respective roles in the teaching and learning process.
CAHSEE Conductor is accessible via a web browser (i.e., Internet Explorer, Netscape, Firefox, or Safari). It runs on both Windows and Mac OS X. The latest Flash plug-in is required to run Conductor.
