Individually Customized Text
The CMI materials support dynamically generated instructional text customized to complement the current lesson activities and learning performance of individual students. These materials will be generated both for onscreen reading and study, and in printed form.
Assessment Measures
Multiple modes of learning assessment will be employed to assess student misconceptions, misunderstandings, and mistakes in a stepwise fashion.
Use of instructional objects
The CMI materials support learner-controlled instructional inscriptions featuring dynamically interactive figures, diagrams and other simulations.
Metacognitive Learning Strategies
The CMI materials will generate topic and lesson specific advice for students on how they can become more aware of their own learning strategies and practices. Student Collaboration and Communication The collaboration technologies allow instructors and students to access the same instructional materials, engage in realtime or asynchronous discussions, and when it becomes feasible, internet telephony and video conferencing.
Use of Audio
Many of the instructional objects incorporated into the CMI materials will be accompanied by audio. This feature is intended to allow the student to attend to these objects while simultaneously listening to explanatory information.
Instructor Aids to Learning Management
Instructors will be provided several tools to monitor, guide, or direct the learning activities of their students, individually or as part of a group. An easy-to-use authoring environment will allow instructors to create instructional text, tables and graphics. |
